Office of the Superintendent
March can be a difficult time for our students. The winter has been long. The lack of sunshine seems to affect everyone negatively. The desire for spring becomes a daily topic.
If you notice your child is a bit less focused or a bit less motivated, it is probably just part of this seasonal "grey period". However, it can have a negative effect on your child's performance at school. Staff is aware of these patterns and does what they can to help.
As a parent there are things you can do as well. Make sure your child takes advantage of the sunny periods. If at all possible spend time with them doing things that will keep them outdoors and engaged. At a minimum, make sure you talk to them about how they are feeling. If you find they are in the "doldrums", as a parent you have the influence to help them deal with that quickly.
The next reporting period is fairly near. Anything you do to help your children feel better, will show up in improved learning, something we all value.
