Welcome to Ms. Goodrich's Art Room Room 135 Ms. Sara Goodrich email: sgoodric@mpsk12.net(231) 720-2462
My name is Sara Goodrich. The 2011-2012 school year marks my 2nd year as an Elementary Art Teacher for Muskegon Public Schools. I am teaching art at Oakview Elementary, McLaughlin Elementary, and Moon Elementary Schools this year. I’m a graduate of Western Michigan University where I earned my Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree majoring in Art Education and Painting. I’m fortunate to have the opportunity to work with your child(ren), teaching them the value art holds in their education.
Each 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade student at Oakview Elementary School has Art once a week for 45 minutes. Each week students’ create works of art using various art materials including, watercolor paint, colored pencils, oil pastels, crayons, markers, and graphite to list a few. During the school year students will learn of present and past influential artist from around the world, creating artwork that is inspired by these specific artists. Also in art class students will discover creative ways to use everyday common household products in the making of their art.
It is my belief that each of my students’ has the ability to be a great artist. Like anything in life, to improve a skill or ability practice is required. Encourage your child(ren) to practice drawing, coloring, and exploring their creativity every day. With practice their artistic skills will grow, along with giving them a chance to express themselves and build their confidence and self-belief.
CONGRATULATIONS!
Last year two Muskegon Public Schools students received high honors in art. Their artwork was selected for two individual state-wide art exhibits. Links to see their artwork in the online art show galleries are provided below.
