Homework

Homework for the week is passed out on Monday.  Your child will write the day it is due at the top of each page (this helps in learning to spell the days of the week correctly, with a capital letter showing it is a proper noun -- please check that your child's is correct.)

Homework is intended to review concepts and to teach organization/responsibility.  It should be turned in daily.  Students with homework missing from the week will lose privileges on Friday and may need to stay after school to complete it.

The homework schedule will usually be as follows:

Due Tuesday: language arts (vocabulary, reading, or grammar sheet)

Due Wednesday: math

Due Thursday:  writing

Due Friday:  math, science, or social studies sheet + reading log

Spelling words will be passed out on Monday and should be practiced daily.  Spelling tests are on Friday.

Reading:  20 minutes of reading is expected each day.   Reading logs are turned in on Friday.

If your child has not yet mastered basic addition and subtraction facts, 5-10 minutes of daily practice is suggested (mastery is 30 facts in 2 minutes or less.)
