MRS. ROESLER

 5th grade

I always wanted to be a teacher since I was little.  The neighbor kids and I use to play school and I was always the teacher.  

For my education I went to Western.  I received a MASTERS IN READING.

I am married and I have two wonderful daughters.  Their names are Morgan and Madison.  My husband is a fireman for the City of Muskegon.  He helps families out right in our own neighborhood.

PROJECTS

We are currently working on our Black History power points.  Each student picked a Black History person who has meant something to them.  We will show our power point presentations to our families at conferences.

 

 

 

READING

 Our main focus in reading right now is fluency and comprehension.   Fluency is how many words your child can read in a minute.  Our goal for grade is 140 words per minute.  Please read with your child at home.  You can even time them for a minute to see how they are doing on their fluency.  Our class will start small reading groups in January.  We will work on our fluency in our small reading groups.

 

 

WRITING

We are working on our Essay unit.  We will continue with what we have learned in our Personal Narrative unit and expand on it with our Essay unit.

 

 

MATH

 We are currently on a unit called Bits and Pieces.  Bits and Pieces is working with fractions.  We will be finding common denominators and adding and subtracting fractions.  Watch for homework to come home.

 

SCIENCE

 We are currently on a unit called Forces and Motion.  We just finished an experiment with static electricity.  Ask your student about positive and negative charges.

 

SOCIAL STUDIES

 We are currently working on our explorers chapter.  We need to know the impact that explorers had on the New World.
