Celebration of Learning at Marquette Our annual Celebration of Learning entitled “Sharing What You Know” will occur on April 22 at 5:30 – 7:30.  This celebration will showcase your child who in turn will “share what they know” about a topic they have selected to present.  We have also invited city officials, Muskegon Public Schools board members, and business representatives to attend.   This celebration is the beginning of a two-day Affirmation process with the National Coalition of Essential schools.  Members from the coalition will be actively evaluating our student’s academic progress and our teacher’s use of best teaching practices through activities that will occur.  They will begin by attending our Celebration of Learning and talk with various students about their projects.   The second day our Coalition visitors will visit classrooms and observe how our students use their minds as well as how their teacher instructs.  They will also interview staff and students. They will also meet with several staff members and our superintendent to further access our program of instruction.  At the end of this day we will be notified if we have reached Affirmation status as a National Essential School. It is imperative that your child(ren) attend this evening celebration so please mark your calendars now.  We will also offer a walking taco and juice for a $1.00 donation to our PTO.  Be sure and watch for specific information from your child’s teacher.  The schedule that evening separates grades K-2 and 3-5 in order to allow parents who have more than one child at our school to hear their presentation. I want to thank each and every one of you for all the support you have given our school family over the past 3 years as we have attended professional development trainings, held evening exhibitions and family nights, and have requested information from you in the form of surveys. Kindergarten Round-up:            If you were unable to attend our Kindergarten Round-up activities in February you are still able to enroll at any time in our office.  Just stop in and bring your child’s birth certificate, immunization record, and proof of residency.  We’ll be happy to let you and your child visit a Kindergarten room and answer any questions you may have about our school. Looking forward to seeing you on April 22, 2008.The best for your child, every day! Gay Monroe, Principal
