Bunker Middle School is currently an IB-MYP Candidate School. At the end of May 2010, we will be submitting application B to qualify to become an approved IB-MYP school. for more information about IB-MYP programme, please visit the official website at http://www.ibo.org/.
When leave Bunker Middle School and go to Muskegon High School, they will have the opportunity to attend IB classes. Currently in 9th and 10th grade years, students can enroll in MYP-IB classes, a direct extension of their 6th - 8th grade MYP-IB experience at Bunker Middle School. Students may also enroll in the IB Diploma Programme for their 11th and 12th grade years. COMMUNITY AND SERVICE
Community and Service is one of the five Areas of Interaction in the Middle Years Programme. An Area of Interaction is the lens through which content is taught. The students are expected to think about how they can answer a question based on one of the Areas of interaction(Environment, Health and Social Education, Community and Service, Human Ingenuity, and Approaches to Learning).
MYP-IB UNITS
Each term, the staff is asked to teach a unit. IB units promote thinking and inquiry in our students as they learn important content and problem solving through intervention. These units require active engagement on the part of the student while they are learning. Some of the units taught are listed below:

EARTH DAY
The annual Earth Day around the world is April 22, 2010. At Bunker, we will celebrate this day wiht a neighborhood clean-up. Bunker students will travel to the McLaughlin Neighborhood and participate in a neighborhood clean-up of the area.
LEARNER PROFILE
