6TH GRADE SCIENCE

Achievement:
In order to ensure student success, all sixth grade teachers are available for academic help every Tuesday and Wednesday from 2:40 – 3:30. Late bus is provided.
Teacher Commitment:
Students will experience science through as many different learning modalities as possible. All students will not only be able to learn in the way they learn best, but will reinforce their knowledge, and grow in their capabilities, as they experience our lessons through all of their senses and abilities.
FIVE IMPORTANT SKILLS :
*Inquiry- This is the process of developing wonder and curiosity into a question, the question for new knowledge and answering. This is the essence of scientific research.
*Technical and Descriptive Writing-This is a very important skill that sixth graders will need to start developing.
*Student Organization- This is a skill that takes much practice and patience from everyone involved.
*Technical and non-fiction reading for comprehension- This goes hand in hand with writing and is essential.
*Scientific Vocabulary- Vocabulary activities will aid in comprehending scientific literature.
