Welcome to Mrs. Cotton's Classroom
Hi, my name is Katie Cotton. I have been teaching for 19 years with the last four spent at Bluffton! I am a graduate of Muskegon Public Schools. I went to Eastern Michigan University for my undergraduate degree and completed my Master's of reading degree at Western Michigan University. My children both go to Muskegon High School. Abby is a Junior and Nate is a Freshman Abby is in Student Leadership and the Big Red marching band. Nate is on the soccer team and is in the band also. When I'm not teaching, I like to spend time with my husband, cart my children around to their events, scrapbook, play with my dog, and watching sports. Fall Fundraiser:The PTO runs the fall fundraiser. This is the main fundraiser of the year. The PTO uses this money to pay for things such as: field trips, books for the library, AR prizes, assemblies for the school, and many more worthy areas. Please try to sell even a few items. It all helps. **Reminder: any checks need to be made out to Bluffton PTO not the PTA. Thanks!
Homework:Reading homework consists of reading a poem and a blackline master book. (See the green sheet of directions in the poetry homework folder.) The reading goes home on Monday and comes back on Friday. This gives us time to put the new poem and book in the folder. The poems stay in the center section of the folder and the “old” blackline master book can be removed. I suggest that you keep them in a shoebox for “extra” reading. Math homework comes home everyday in the BBT. Your child needs to complete the sheet. Please look at their sheet to make sure that the answers are correct. Sign the bottom and return this math homework in their BBT. Thank you!
ROOM VOLUNTEERS:Thank you to all the parents that signed up to be helpers. I will let you know soon when we will be starting AR, Spelling, and Centers.
BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION:We collect box tops for education. At the end of the year the class that has the most box tops gets a pizza party! Please talk to neighbors, grandparents, aunts and uncles, people at church and have them collect them too! The PTO is able to buy great materials with the money!
THANK-YOU:We have had some boxes of graham crackers, glue sticks, golf pencils, and Kleenex donated. Thank you so much!! We have enough Kleenex to get through until early December. We could use some more golf pencils. You are awesome parents.
