Principal’s Corner

Dear Parents, Guardians and Students,

Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year! I am excited to have been chosen to be a member of the Bluffton family. It is my desire to work together as a school family as we accomplish the School Improvement Plan (SIP) goals as well as district goals. I am committed to creating an environment where children will learn and reach mastery level of essential skills. Therefore, my intention and plan is to serve your family with an open door policy.

My educational background includes a Bachelors of Science Degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis on Mathematics and Science from Tennessee State University. I also earned a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Wayne State University. My life's desire is to serve and educate members of communities that they may become productive citizens.

Professionally, I have served in a Principal position of both charter schools and traditional public schools. Last year was my first year with Muskegon Public Schools and in it, McLaughlin Elementary had a successful year. This school year I will be responsible for Bluffton and McLaughlin Elementary.

Similarily, as principal with Muskegon Heights Public Schools I had the opportunity to serve both Theodore Roosevelt Elementary and Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary, Math and Science Academy. As a teacher, I have taught all subjects to 1st-5th grades and 6th/7th grade Science. I am in love the the work that we do within the profession of education. It is my life calling to make a difference with people all over the world.

Mrs. Carla Turner-Laws, 3rd-5th Instructional Supervisor and Sue Gifford, Lead Teacher will be administrative support during the times I am away from Bluffton servicing McLaughlin Elementary. The success of your child is our first priority.
